I can already tell that this new school that the kids will be attending will be interesting because the Teacher seems very determined but relaxed about the whole situation.Meg has to accomplish 3 tasks with the cherubim, and they must complete it without a single clue to get started! The only way for Charles to learn is if nobody tries to help him, so he needs to be pretty much completely alone to learn and to succed in his work! Also, the school takes place everywhere, no building and no classrooms.
What will the other students think of the cherubim?
How will Mr.Jenkins react to this situation?
Will he turn into a bird and disappear again because of the creature and the Teacher?
Chapter 4
I was very surprised when the cherubim asked Meg what to do next because Meg doesn't even understand this whole concept. Also, isn't the cherubim always supposed to know what to do because he's with Meg to help her, not the other way around? I also wonder why nobody tells the twins anything, they are also concerned about Charles' health but the author doesn't really include them as important characters. Why?
Chapter 5
This was probably one of the most confusing chapters because there are 3 Mr.Jenkins'!!! This first test will be a big challenge for Meg because she needs to Name the correct Mr.Jenkins, but she has to use love. I believe that she has plenty of love but it is very difficult for her to love Mr.Jenkins in a friend-like way. Also, at the very end of this chapter Charles Wallace comes casually walking down the school steps with Loise wrapped around his arms and shoulders!!!! What does that scene have to do ith Meg Naming the certain Mr.Jenkins? Will the two fake Mr.Jenkins fly away leaving the real one because they are scared? Or will they all leave causing Meg to fail because she didn't Name him in time? Maybe nothing will happen at all and that they will just be shocked that Loise The Larger is there with Charles?
Chapter 6
I was very surprised when all three of the Mr.Jenkins' said simultaneously" Charles Wallace Murry, what is it now?"
because I thought only the real one would be left behind as the fake ones got scared and left. They sounded quite bothered at his timing of enterance into the conversation. I thought that it was good timing because the whole idea of this book and somewhat that conversation was about him.
Meg must have felt very proud about herself when she corectly Named the true Mr.Jenkins, I was to because if she didn't then her family wouldn't have gotten help and Charles prabably would've died. At the end of this chapter, Mr.Jenkins fainted. Why? Was it because he was happy?
Chapter 7
Right away something went wrong... Mr.Jenkins had fainted, and he thought he was hallucinating and having a nervous break down! Why wasn't he being reasonable and just believe Meg? Why would he have a dream like that anyway?
When the author introduced that weird mouse to the scene, I thought that he would be kind and gentile. He was impatient and upset to learn that he was working with earthlings instead!!! Plus... he was a farandolae, and all of them would be going into Charles Wallace's body! Would this adventure be to much for Meg to handle? Or will she comprehend this just to save her brother from death?
Chapter 8
I thought this was amazing because you can't exactly go into someones body every day now can you?! Althought... Mr.Jenkins doesn't even like this whole idea of mitochondria, farandolea, and Loise the Larger, he wants to take this as a joke and pretend this is just a dream, but doesn't he want to help Charles? Charles is one of his students, ( and a very special one ) Mr.Jenkins had never really done something helpful besides giving Calvin those shoes, isn't this a perfect opportunity fo him?
Also, I think my absoloute favorite part was when Meg experienced a star being born!!! That was increadible, the author described it perfectly, she made it seem as if I were witnessing it with them that very second. One thing, though that has me almost getting emotional was when Meg was being Xed. I was left thinking in horror, will she survive or will that be the absolute end of her??? I just can't wait for chapter 9!
Chapter 9
I was very relieved when the littlefarandolae saved Meg from being Xed, I wouldn't have thought that they would've let her go so early in the series anyway. She is way to important!!
One thing was quite confusing, right before Meg was saved she said that she felt a series of violent earthquakes... Was Charles coughing, or was an Ecthroi just angry because she was being saved? I was disapionted and confused when Progo said that they Xed themselves becuause it was very dangerous to startle an Ecthroi. Why is it so dangerous? What would've happened if they didn't X themselves?
Also, when Meg was trying to kythe with Charles, she saw and heard the twins talking in their garden about her coming home. How could she have heard them, much less see them when the timing is so different in a mitochondria of Charles Wallace?? That isn't quite possible is it?
Chapter 10
This chapter was extremely cool and interesting, and probably one of my favorites. It was one of my favorites because at the very end, Meg said she remembered this one phrase," For want of a nail the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe the horse was lost; for want of a horse the rider was lost; for want of a rider the message was lost; for want of a message the battle was lost; for want of a battle the war was lost; for want of a war the kingdom was lost; and all for the want of a horseshoe nail." . This was facinating, yet very confusing. I do understand, though, that one small thing can create a bad chain reaction, so we all must be careful of our actions and the words we speak.
I was also enjoying that part when Mr.Jenkins finally came around to understand all of this and help the poor, little Charles Wallace of his illness! :) Chapter 11 and 12 should be quite the adventure, but I still wonder how on earth will they heal Charles? Will they try and help Sporos Deepen and then give him energy? Or is all they have to do besides help Sporos Deepen is defeat an Ecthros that's attacking Charles' mitochondria?
Chapter 11
This chapter was the most action-packed-edge-of-your-seat chapter out of the whole book!!! My third question above now seems to be answered, but instead of an Ecthros attacking Charles Wallace's mitochondria, several are attacking Mr.Jenkins! I was extremely worried because it seems like in one chapter or another someones about to die.
I just hope that if Mr.Jenkins ends up dying, It will count as a sacrific, not a total loss to the team. My heart was pounding like crazy when the author was descibing the scene of Mr.Jenkins being killed, Sporos refusing to Deepen because of the Ecthros, and the rest of the loyal team like Progo, Meg and Calvin trying to save everybody!!!!
This was absoloutly crazy, exciting, and sad all at the same time! Waiting for chapter 12 just won't be possible...
Chapter 12
Oh my gosh times one million- this was a fantastic book!! From Charles W. discovering the cherubim, to the little farandolae saving Meg from dying, this is my favorite book! The description was amazing, the setup was absoloutly fantastic, and there were huge and surprising climaxes everywhere in the book! I'll never forget this book, ever, ever, ever.
The sadest moment happened in the final chapter of A Wind In The Door, Proginoskes Xed himself to nowhere... He did that just to save Mr.Jenkins, a man he barely even knew. Calvin, Meg, and especially Proginoskes were, and are, true heroes of the Wrinkle series. I will definetely read the next few books over the summer!
When Meg Named everyine and everything in Charles W. in that one scene that took up more than a page, it truely showed that Meg cares about everyone she knows and even for the creatures she doesn't know that well. ( I said creatures because of Sporos, Progo, and Blajeny.) Even though she can be quite stubborn sometimes, she'll never like the idea of one of her friends leaving their tight group. That group that feels like family to her will always love and look out for each other, especially in the future.
Another one of my favorite scenes was when Calvin and Meg came home from outside at the very end- the door blew open by itself, and the two looked at each other- and Meg then went upstairs to Charles Wallace...
THIS WAS A FANTASTIC BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
